Fruit picking New South Wales
by Matt
(Southport, QLD, Australia)
Hi,
Me and my mate are working at the gold coast at the moment but we are looking for a fruit picking job in New south Wales because we want to extend our visa. Our house lease will finish at the 10th of february and because of the floods in queensland we want to go south. What would you recommend us to do? Where to go? Is Grffith the only place you would recommend or are there any other good places, perhaps closer to the sea?
hope you can help us out here. Thanks !!
Cheers
Matt and Martinus

It is easier to get fruit picking work at Griffith or Stanthorpe on the QLD/NSW border.
When it comes to fruit picking near the coast line in NSW the only place I know of is Coffs Harbour, four hours South from the Gold Coast, good beaches, good surfing and nice fishing spot. The best chance of fruit picking work is at the banana plantations, you would have to ask the local farmers for work, if you have a car there is also I think Blueberry farms in the next town south. If I was you I would go there for the week-end and check the place out. I would also stay at the local backpacker hostel at Coffs, there are a few hostels, but if you want work I would stay at this one, and get the info you need. http://www.aussitel.com.au/
Hope that helps.
