fruit picking conditions

I'm planning on going fruit picking for the first time soon. are there any questions i should be asking my new employer with regards to working conditions before i sign up?

Fruit picking is a hard job, also because they employ backpackers the farmers seem to make their own rules and get away with it. Working conditions seem to get thrown out the window.
