Do I need an Aus bank account?

Hi. I am coming over to Western Australia at Christmas this year, and was wondering if I need to set up an Australian bank account when I arrive in order to get paid by farmers, or whether they pay cash? Thanks for your advise.

Most of the farmers or working backpacker hostels paid me by bank cheque, so I needed an Australian bank account to cash them. Try ANZ bank they seem to be the best for backpackers.
